Checklist for First Time Traveler to Travel Abroad

It’s your first trip to a foreign land? There are many important things you must keep in your mind before travelling. Ignoring any of the following and you can be in a mess in a foreign land.
  1. Passport – Passport is an essential document for travelling abroad. You must bring your passport with you and also keep some Xerox copies with you and left a copy at your home as well. If possible keep your passport’s scanned copy on your email or cloud.
  2. Register with your embassy - Make sure you have got registered with your embassy so that in case of any emergency your embassy can contact you and provide you help. Almost every embassy has online registration portals. You can now register with them before travel.
  3. Money – Make sure your credit cards work in all country. Get some local currency before you fly, one can get it at airports or at money exchange centers.
  4. Flight and Hotel Booking – Book your tickets prior so that you can get some discounts. There are many airline service and travel agents who can provide you deal of flight and hotel booking at very reasonable price. All online travel website has this option now days.
  5. Telecommunication and Connectivity – As you are going to a foreign land it is advisable to get international sim cards. These cards help you to stay connected with your family and friends all the time of your trip at very lower cost than your local connection. You can enjoy services like free incoming calls, low cost on text messages, low data rates, free local calls etc.
  6. Travel Guide - Get a travel guide of the visiting country before you fly. It will ensure you that you don’t miss any places and regret later. These guides also give you insight of the visiting country’s cultural, economical and weather conditions.
  7. Luggage – Pack few extra sets of cloths with you. Check for the weather of visiting country and prepare your luggage according to that. Keep your luggage light doesn’t put unwanted stuffs in your luggage. The lightweight luggage are easy to carry and can save some bucks of yours.
  8. Important Contacts - Save important contact numbers like embassy, local police, and hospital of visiting country with you as well.
